This is an oil painting of the famous Irish racehorse ‘Galileo’ son of the sire of sires ‘Sadlers Wells’ he was a truly stunning and special horse. Sadly Galileo passed away on July 21, the reference for this painting is one of his most celebrated photos taken and truly captures his strength and spirit.

This horse was a perfect example of what generations of dedication to excellence can achieve. The subject means a great deal to me as it envelops so much of what drives me, namely the great heights we can summit when we work together, push ourselves, and endeavor to create that which has not yet been achieved, to ‘slay our Jungian dragon’ this horse wouldn’t exist without those underpinnings.

I love him painted in the highest quality ‘Michael Harding’ oil paints on board, this project was realized over 30 hours. Details were refined throughout but the focus of this piece is on the muzzle and eye, with such a kind and knowing face it was all too easy to bring life to this beautiful creature.

This piece is tactile with texture built up throughout. This painting is unframed and so ready for your preference though we recommend a traditional ebonized carved frame with soft gold gilding wax on the outer layers to complement his bridle.
